Role Summary

We are seeking a technical Product Engineer to drive the validation, testing, and application of our products used in cutting-edge warehouse automation (Goods-to-Person and Robot-to-Robot systems). This role is a critical link between our local project teams, Product, and R&D, ensuring product reliability, performance, and successful integration into  RMS/WMS/WES environments.

Key Responsibilities

Product Validation and Testing

  • Test Design & Execution: Design, develop, and execute end-to-end test plans to validate performance, durability, and safety compliance for new products
  • Fixture Development: Utilize proficiency with tools and assembly techniques to design/build test fixtures to simulate project environments and failure modes.
  • System Diagnostics: Perform advanced troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on hardware and software failures.
  • CAD/Design Review: Leverage AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) proficiency to review robot product designs and plan optimal test environment setups.

    Application Engineering & Deployment Support
  • Integration: Support the technical integration of the mobile robotics fleet with Robot Management Systems (RMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Warehouse Execution Systems (WES).
  • On-Site Validation: Lead final acceptance testing and commissioning activities at customer sites, ensuring successful "go-live" and initial system ramp-up.
  • Feedback Loop: Act as the Voice of the Customer (VoC), translating deployment challenges and operational feedback into clear, actionable engineering requirements for the Product Management and R&D teams.

    Documentation, Reporting, and Communication
  • Technical Reporting & Analytics: Produce data-driven technical reports summarizing test results, performance metrics, and root cause analyses.
  • Data Management: Responsible for maintaining a detailed document repository of test results, open issues, change control,  and deployment procedures
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear and timely stakeholder communication across engineering, sales, and operations teams, summarizing technical issues and providing status updates on product readiness.
  • Training Materials: Develop and deliver technical training materials for internal teams and external customer maintenance/operations staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or related engineering fields.
    • Alternatively, 5+ years in product testing/reporting, deployment and support, and demonstrated experience of other required or preferred qualifications.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in Product Engineering, Validation Engineering, or a similar role. 1-3 years of professional experience is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Toolset:
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD for design review and layout planning.
    • Experience with product testing methodologies (e.g., FMEA, HALT, DOE).
  • Hands-On Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on proficiency with tools for building, modifying, and testing physical hardware and fixtures.
  • Robotics Knowledge: Experience with robotics (mobile robotics preferred), sensors, fleet management, and safety systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Testing Scripts: Proven ability to write integration and testing scripts using Node-RED or Postman (leveraging REST APIs).
  • Controls: General understanding of PLCs  in an industrial automation context.
  • Protocols: Familiarity with RMS/WMS/WES integration protocols.
  • Programming: Experience with Python, SQL, Node.js, REST API
