SUMMARY

Responsible for operating x-ray and mammography equipment to produce images for early detection while working with a trained and certified radiologist.

  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Positionspatients for the proper view (s) according to exam ordered or requested.
  • Operates mammography equipment to create breast images ordered by physician(s).
  • Instructspatients astothe proper physiological requirements for the procedure.
  • Acquirespatient medical history.
  • Perform Quality Assurance when necessary for regulated calibrations and other accredited factors.
  • Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both tothemselvesand to the patient.
  • Communicate compassionately and accurately to the patient to explain what they are about to experience.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with fellow colleagues and radiologists daily.
  • Effective use of system applications to perform patient workflow.
  • Work according to the rules set forth from the ACR and ARRT governing bodies.
  • Housekeeping items such as keeping up on laundry,stocking ofsupplies, helping other colleagues with patients, etc.
  • Attendance at meetings and training sessions may berequired. These sessions could occasionally be scheduled outside of your regular working hours to accommodate business needs and training opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training. 

  
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a current ARRT certificate and be willing to obtain a Mammography Certification within 1 year. (open to on-the-job training for registered RTs). Must continue to obtain the recommended number of Continuing Educations Credits each year for your certifications. Continuing education in accordance with the ARRT, ACR, and State of Michigan.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
