Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, direct, supervise and coordinate hourly personnel in a production, service or maintenance department in accordance with company policy and practices, operating schedules and controls for one or more shifts in more than one area of the plant.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assists with development and implementation plans to meet plant and area objectives including staffing and hours planning, equipment needs, processes, tooling, etc.
  • Accountable for compliance with company expectations regarding quality, customer satisfaction, safety, and costs.
  • Responsible for maintaining order and discipline in area.
  • Encourages teamwork within department and promoting teamwork with other areas of the company.
  • Responsible for the employees’ overall performance. This includes recommending discipline of his or her direct employees, participating in the hiring process and dealing with department attendance.
  • Responsible for the proper and effective training on processes, equipment, jobs, etc.
  • Responsible for the on-boarding and initial training of all new employees.
  • Assist employees in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Responsible for job assignments, assigning priorities, making plans to meet production schedules.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining improvements such as:
  • Safety Improvements
  • Quality Improvements
  • Cost reductions
  • Set up reductions
  • Tooling improvements
  • Tooling cost reductions
  • Responsible for maintaining 5S in the area.
  • Assist with cycle counting in the area.
  • Works towards the resolution of customer complaints or problems review customer complaints or returned materials and initiates corrective actions to preclude recurrences.
  • Material handler as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned and or required.

Qualifications

EHS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the Company’s goals.
  • Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.
  • Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company’s environmental performance goals.
  • Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing leadership roles.
  • Requires a self-starter that is innovative, has a sense of urgency and is mature.
  • Technical experience required includes machine operation and set-up principles, tooling requirements, understand machine controls, and utilize ERP and MRP systems.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with metal machining and use of lathes, mills, CNC tooling, and manual machine tools preferred.
  • Experience in a leadership role preferable with directs.
  • Experience with training and development of production associates will be a plus.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several objectives and reassign priorities.
  • Must have knowledge of and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, Outlook).

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit for extend periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office, shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
  • Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment.
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities to complete assignments.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
