Job DetailsJob Location: Sweeny, TX 77480Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: DaySummary/Objective: A Central Scheduler and Authorization Clerk maximizes hospital efficiency by managing patient appointments, verifying insurance, and obtaining pre-authorizations for procedures. Their primary objective is to accurately schedule services, ensure compliance with clinical protocols, minimize no-shows, and secure financial authorization to streamline billing and enhance patient experience.   Essential Functions: Creates a positive first impression of Sweeny Community Hospital in greeting patients and other callers. Schedules patient appointments according to Sweeny Community Hospital protocols and obtains the necessary information for new and established patients. Obtains Authorizations from Insurance Companies as needed.   Answers the telephone in a warm, friendly manner. Obtains accurate and com information for hospital testing policy. Utilizes telephone courtesies on all telephone interactions, including placing callers on hold or directing them to voicemail. Accurately enters new patient information in the computer/scheduling program. Accurately updates established patient information in the computer/scheduling program. Obtains all insurance information for patient appointments according to Sweeny Community Hospital protocols. Schedules patient appointments accurately according to Sweeny Community Hospital policy. Accurately obtains tracking information for new patient calls according to Sweeny Community Hospital policies. Correctly cancels and reschedules appointments as needed and documents in the patient chart (EHR or paper) according to Sweeny Community Hospital policy. Mails out all new patient packets with the appropriate paperwork and/or refers the patients to the website for new patient forms. Makes and keeps stocked new patient packets. Maintains patient confidentiality. Call patients and get them on schedule for Diagnostic Mammograms, CT’s, Bone Density testing. Call patients to schedule outpatient surgery’s If patient lab test, radiology exams, surgeries need prior authorization, you will need to call patients insurance and obtain authorization for the procedures. Learn registration and assist when needed Work with Medical records to assure all orders are scanned into schedules services Other duties as assigned       Supervisory Responsibility: This position has or has no supervisory responsibilities   Work Environment: Normal business office environment. Required to exhibit a positive attitude and a professional appearance and show detail and accuracy. Required to exhibit quality performance of the essential job functions to help the office run effectively and efficiently. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and other equipment as needed. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and crouching as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.   Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a Full-time position, and core hours of work are Monday through Friday with no overtime.
