Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN, PA, of Physician Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, preventive and holistic health needs, available resources, and follow up care Documents delivery of health care and nursing process in accordance with policies and procedures in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner Reports abnormal health data Coordinates and delegates the delivery of patient care provided by selected members of the healthcare team Coordinates and delegates the assignment of routine tasks needed in order to keep the clinic operational to selected members of the healthcare team Facilitates coordination of services with the non-medical clinic staff to obtain optimum clinic flow and increase patient satisfaction Acts as a resource within the clinic to other staff members in regards to patient care Acts as a resource for facilitating communication when necessary Assists in the development and/or delivery of orientation and/or education processes for patients, families, and staff Participates in monitoring and logging data for Process Improvement practices as assigned Arrange and restock examining rooms with supplies, medications as required, instruments, and equipment Explain and prepare patients for examinations as well as assist the providers during the exams Purchase and maintain surveillance of expiration dates of supplies, medications and equipment Collect and prepare laboratory specimen and/or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises as well as assistance with maintaining up to date CLIA certificates Call in, fax, or otherwise assist Pharmacies with the appropriate filling of prescriptions ordered by provider Dispose of contaminated supplies per protocol Maintain office workspace and exam rooms in a neat and orderly fashion Accurately and appropriately document the care given to the patient on the paper chart or in the EMR Respect and maintain the privacy and dignity of patients and assure confidentiality of protected health information Participate in staff and educational meetings Facilitate referrals to other providers and share and obtain needed information as guided by HIPAA Regulations Facilitate communication between the Patients, the Office Receptionist and the Provider Maintain office quality control and temperature logs May be required to float to other provider clinics Performs other duties as assigned Competencies: Communication proficiency Proficient in Computer Skills Ability to explain provider instructions Ability to calm patients Ability to adapt to a stressful and demanding environment Ethical Conduct Flexibility Supervisory Responsibility: This position may supervise MA’s when they are assisting with patient care Work Environment: This job will require exposure to communicable diseases. This role routinely uses medical assessment equipment including sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, thermometer, scale, EKG machine. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and other equipment as needed. QualificationsPhysical Demands: The physical demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires intermittent physical activity, endurance, ability to assist, support and position patients. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and crouching as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and core hours of work are Monday through Friday 8 hours per day from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with no overtime. Position requires work schedule flexibility based on needs of the facility. TRAVEL Occasional travel is expected for this position due to educational requirements.
