Greet patients, answer phones and schedule appointments Filling out forms and handling electronic, verbal and written correspondence required for preauthorization of diagnostics, medical procedures and medications Gather information to update and file/scan into patient records Arrange for diagnostics, ancillary tests and hospital admissions Taking down information to update medical histories including medication lists at each encounter Obtain and record vital signs Arrange, monitor for expiration dates and restock examining rooms with supplies, medications as required, instruments, and equipment Explain and prepare patients for examinations as well as assist the providers during the exams Purchase and maintain surveillance of expiration dates of supplies, medications and equipment Collect blood and prepare other laboratory specimen and/or perform basic Point of Care laboratory tests as well as ordering needed laboratory supplies Inventory and order clinic supplies from Materials Management in Cerner Call in, fax, or electronically process refill prescription requests according to procedure as ordered by provider Dispose of contaminated supplies per protocol Maintain waiting room, office workspace and exam rooms in a neat and orderly fashion Accurately and appropriately document the care given to the patient in the EMR Respect and maintain the privacy and dignity of patients and assure confidentiality of protected health information Participate in staff and educational meetings Facilitate referrals to other providers and share and obtain needed information as guided by HIPAA Regulations Facilitate communication between the Patients, the Office Staff and the Provider Maintain office quality control and temperature logs Ensure that clinic flow is maintained Prepare and administer vaccines according to schedule and orders Other duties as assigned Competencies: Communication proficiency in English both verbally and in writing Basic Computer Knowledge Proficiency in Medical Terminology Ethical Conduct Must have a calming effect to put patients at ease Ability to explain provider’s instructions Ability to adapt to a high stress environment Ability to cross train and work in other provider clinics Flexibility Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities Work Environment: This job will require exposure to communicable diseases. This role uses basic medical metric equipment including sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, scale, thermometer, glucometer, etc.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and other equipment as needed. QualificationsPhysical Demands: The physical demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires intermittent physical activity, endurance, ability to assist, prop or position patients. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and crouching as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and core hours of work are Monday through Friday 8 hours per day from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm,  with no overtime.  Position requires work schedule flexibility based on needs of the facility. TRAVEL Rare travel is expected for this position due to educational purposes.
