 JOB TITLE: SL FINISHING PACKER WH 3 REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

The Sheet Line Finishing Packer is responsible for packaging, labeling, and preparing finished products for shipment in accordance with customer specifications, company quality standards, and production requirements. This position works collaboratively with the production team to ensure products are accurately packaged, inspected, documented, and prepared for delivery while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Package finished products according to customer specifications, company procedures, and quality standards, ensuring products are properly labeled, taped, banded, and prepared for shipment.
• Inspect finished products throughout the packaging process using visual inspection and manual dexterity to verify product quality, consistency, and packaging accuracy.
• Prepare packaging materials, including assembling boxes, printing labels, and organizing packaging supplies to support daily production requirements.
• Monitor packaging operations and communicate product quality concerns, process issues, or material shortages to machine operators or supervisors in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to packaging activities, including scrap weights and other required production records.
• Maintain inventories of packaging materials and supplies, including tape, inserts, plugs, poly liners, cardboard, and scrap bags, ensuring work areas remain organized and adequately stocked.
• Replace scrap bags, weigh and record scrap materials, and support waste management procedures in accordance with department requirements.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail, sound judgment, and concentration to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and production efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support efficient workflow and promote a positive team environment.

Other Job Functions:

• Requires cross-training and routine rotation among multiple workstations based on operational needs.
• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently in production settings, ensuring timely material handling while adhering to OSHA safety regulations and company policies and procedures. 
• Comply with all company policies, safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with housekeeping standards, performing housekeeping duties as needed.
• Report equipment problems and safety hazards promptly to the line supervisor. 
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision. 
• Demonstrate teamwork by getting along with co-workers and maintaining a positive work environment. 
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Requirements- 

Knowledge

• Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
• Understanding of standard workplace safety procedures and plant operations. 
• Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Mental Requirements

• Ability to maintain focus and attention during routine and high-concentration tasks. 
• Capable of monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting equipment safely. 
• Able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions accurately. 
• Ability to make quick decisions in response to equipment alerts or safety concerns.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand or walk for approximately 95% of the shift and sitting 5% of the shift. 
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. safely. 
• Must have the strength, stamina, and mobility to perform repetitive tasks, operate machinery, and handle materials throughout the shift. 
• Ability to bend/stooping, reach, and move safely while performing job duties.

Environmental Conditions

• Ability to perform essential job functions in a warehouse and/or manufacturing/production environment. 
• Exposure to dust, fumes, high noise levels, and varying temperatures due to lack of climate control. 
• Must be able to work safely around machinery, moving equipment, and other typical warehouse or plant hazards. 
• Ability to adapt to the physical and sensory demands of the work environment while maintaining safety and productivity.
• This position operates in a warehouse and/or manufacturing environment where noise levels may exceed OSHA action levels; hearing protection is required in designated high-noise areas.

Manual Dexterity

• Ability to use hands, arms, and feet to lift, move, and handle materials such as finished products, boxes, etc.
• Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions safely and accurately while maintaining productivity. 
• Capable of performing tasks that require coordination, precision, and safe handling of tools and equipment.

Sensory Requirements

• Auditory: Ability to hear and respond to workplace sounds necessary for safe job performance, including but not limited to forklifts, alarms, telephones, intercom systems, and verbal communication.
• Visual: Ability to accurately inspect finished products, read and follow written instructions, and distinguish color variations to identify contamination, defects, or inconsistencies. 
• Color Perception: Ability to perceive color differences in finished products to detect contamination or inconsistencies.

Equipment/Work Requirements

• Ability to operate production-related equipment such as electronic scales, computers, label printers, I.D. gauges, measuring tape, electronic calipers, and other related equipment as assigned.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, including utility knives or safety cutters, as needed in accordance with the company safety procedures. 

Attendance

• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job. 
• Must be able to maintain consistent work hours and reliably report for scheduled shifts. 
• Ability to adapt to schedule changes and meet the operational needs of the facility.
