The Onsite Materials Manager will plan, direct, or coordinate the activities of buyers, purchasing officers, and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products, and services. Includes wholesale or retail trade merchandising managers and procurement managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Interact in a professional manner with other employees/customers. 
  2. Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment. 
  3. Inventory value objectives are met. 
  4. Assessment and planning of all shop floor requirements through the interpretation of the MRP report. 
  5. Discrete shop floor planning and work order selection. 
  6. Selected work orders will be forwarded to the production department for final release of packet completion. 
  7. Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in work orders. 
  8. Complete weekly inventory accuracy reports. 
  9. Initiate corrective action to assure accuracy meets or exceeds objective.
  10. Work with Sales/Product Manager on materials for new product start up and assure product planning meets customer expectations. 
  11. Weekly review of work order open list report to assess open orders in WIP. 
  12. Any issues should be resolved with Operations Manager 
  13. Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly. 
  14. Review and maintain the master schedule items maintenance data. 
  15. Completion of weekly customer shipping schedule 
  16. Responsible for all MRO purchased items. 
  17. Execution of shop floor requests and material expedition. 
  18. Research potential vendors for new material and initiate all required assessment. 
  19. Work with all departments to assure data is accurate and current. 
  20. Complete required adjustment based on cycle count results. 
  21. Track inventory accuracy. 
  22. Inventory supplies and requisition or purchase additional items, as necessary. 
  23. Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads. 
  24. Estimate material, time, and staffing requirements for a given project, based on work orders, job specifications, and experience.

Position Supervised or Directed:

Reports to Material Director, TN Operations. 

Supervises purchasing coordinator, production and shipping scheduler, customer service, cycle counting, shipping and receiving. 

Qualifications, Experience requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma Obtained: High School Diploma or GED. College degree in general business or related fields preferred.
  • Additional Training Requirements: Must have knowledge of company procedures.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with working knowledge of MRP concepts. 

General Requirements:

  • Able to travel to other divisions when required. 
  • Detailed and hands-on oriented.
  • Availability of going to the division from Monday to Friday.
