Our agency's drive and purpose is to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for a passionate, driven candidate to join our Clinical Department as a Behavioral Intervention Specialist.

As a Behavioral Intervention Specialist, you will be a key player in creating and implementing individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP). Your expertise will help foster positive behavioral outcomes while ensuring that all services are aligned with current regulations and ethical standards. In this role, you'll work closely with a collaborative team to ensure that individuals receive the psychological services they need for a thriving, fulfilling life.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Develop & Implement Behavior Support Plans: Design individualized strategies to promote positive behaviors and ensure optimal outcomes for individuals receiving services at Arc of Onondaga.

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a thorough understanding of all regulations, human rights, and standards related to restrictive and intrusive supports.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Serve as a key member of the program planning team, contributing to the overall success of behavioral interventions and psychological services.

Training & Supervision: Lead and train staff on effective implementation of behavioral support plans, ensuring consistency and best practices across the team.

 

Education & Experience:

Master's Degree in a clinical or treatment field (Psychology, Social Work, etc.)

At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, including creating, implementing, and monitoring behavior support plans.

Alternatively, a combination of education, specialized training, and certification that meets the qualifications set forth by OPWDD.

Ability to be considered for a Level 1 or Level 2 Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) under OPWDD regulations.

 

Skills & Abilities:

Strong understanding of assessment techniques and behavioral support plan development.

Ability to manage human rights considerations and ensure ethical and effective practices in all interventions.

A valid New York State driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
