Job DetailsJob Location: Liverpool, NY - Liverpool, NY 13088Position Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeSalary Range: $16.00 - $20.00 HourlyJob Shift: AnyJob Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesAdvocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a bright and active young man with a developmental disability. His family and him are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in his community.       Goals include:   To Identify & Respond to Safety Issues – safety in the community, traffic safety, kitchen safety  Social skills - making community connections and friendships, social appropriateness  Independent living skills - grocery shopping, cooking, money management   Participating in volunteer work and community activities      Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, patient, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience.     Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.     Hours and days of work   Thursday and Friday (9 AM - 5 PM)  Full-time opportunities may be available.    Pay rate: $20 per hour when providing direct support. Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned. Must demonstrate sound decision-making skills. Must demonstrate understanding for the Agency mission. Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including sitting, standing, using hands to reach, walk, push, or lift up to 50 pounds. Background checks required Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred. Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
