Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Director of Program Management to lead a team of project managers and a program of initiatives aimed at supporting continuous improvement, change management, and capability development within the NY Gas Business. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in managing a portfolio of work or large complex projects, the ability to coach and mentor project managers, and manage key stakeholders. This role involves reporting status to Senior Leaders, including forecasted and actual benefits of the portfolio, and identifying new initiatives for the program based on performance.
Key Accountabilities
- Influence and shape the development and delivery of a Project/Program Management Office with governance to drive consistency across all projects and programs in NY Gas.
- Manage a program of initiatives to support continuous improvement, aligning with business objectives, targets and identifying root cause for performance failures. Ensuring that effective corrective actions are in place with controls to ensure the sustainability of change.
- Develop and analyze a comprehensive set of leading and lagging cross-functional key performance indicators in support of strategic and operational cross-functional process performance.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to project managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Provide regular updates to Senior Leaders on program performance, metrics, benefits and new initiatives for the program leveraging data-driven insights and stakeholder feedback ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of program initiatives, driving operational excellence and business value.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry associations to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and proven leadership experience (10 years) in building and managing teams (5+ team members), preferably within energy, utilities, or related industries is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic goals into actionable plans, develop and execute on a long-term vision, while also managing short-term priorities and deliverables.
- Experience with project management and process improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma) required – Experience leading and completing a minimum of 10 projects, and managing large portfolios of efficiency initiatives of $10M to $250M in savings.
- PgMP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Prosci or other change management certifications preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to travel to SteerCo and team meetings as needed.
