Position Summary:

This position supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization. Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the NYS Learning and Enrichment After-school Program Supports (LEAPS) Site Coordinator will plan, organize, and lead a comprehensive enrichment program for approximately children. The Site Coordinator assures the well-being for each participant in line with YMCA of the USA guidelines and association policies in accordance with their training.聽

Essential Functions:

  • 聽聽Models the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.聽
  • 聽聽Develops and maintains positive relationships with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; supporting members connect with each other and the YMCA.聽
  • 聽聽Maintains physical presence, always remains alert while on duty.聽
  • 聽聽Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures; completes related reports as required.聽
  • Plans, coordinates, organizes and leads all daily program activities.
  • Provides leadership to staff, ensures adequate coverage for all activities.
  • 聽聽Observes and follows the School Age Child Care program guidelines as well as the regulations set by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.聽
  • Maintains records related to the program.
  • Knows, follows, and enforces all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, procedures, and staff expectations, including those for the prevention of child abuse.聽
  • 聽聽Knows, follows, and enforces all applicable SCSD policies.聽
  • 聽聽Ambassador of all YMCA programs with a focus on department offerings and member engagement.聽
  • Oversee, and assist with hiring, all LEAPS program staff.
  • Oversee both academic and arts/enrichment program curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Collect and organize program data.
  • Process payroll for all program staff.
  • Purchase all necessary program supplies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with families, caregivers, and partners.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and trainings.聽

Requirements

Experience, Education, and Qualifications:

  • Associate鈥檚 degree in child development, elementary education, PE, or related field
  • New York State Children鈥檚 Program Administrator Credential
  • School Age Child Care Credential
  • Two years of college with 18 credits in the above listed areas of concentration
  • Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity

Qualifications:

路 Excellent organizational and communications skills both verbal and written are essential to the success of this position.聽

路 Possess leadership qualities that enable the candidate to successfully lead as well as work as a member of a team.聽

NYS Office of Children and Family Services Requirements: 路 Prior to assignment to initial position, the incumbent will:

? Complete an initial medical statement and tuberculin test providing satisfactory evidence that they are physically fit to provide child day care.

路 Within the first 30-days of employment, the incumbent will:

? Undergo fingerprint and background screening as mandated by the NYS OCFS.

? Obtain clearance on the State Central Register (SCR) and Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCL).聽

Trainings & Certifications:

  • 聽聽聽Must complete annual safety, combating sexual-harassment, and child abuse prevention trainings assigned by human resources prior to direct service.聽
  • 聽聽聽Must have current CPR and First Aid聽
  • 聽聽聽Must hold Medication Administration Certification (MAT) or successfully complete within the first 60-days of employment.聽
  • 聽聽聽Must complete a minimum of 30 hours of training every 2 years with the first fifteen hours being received within the first 6 months of employment as required by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (many training sessions will be held during the monthly staff meetings).聽

  • 聽聽聽Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.聽
  • 聽聽聽Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.聽
  • 聽聽聽Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.聽

Work Environment:

This job operates in a recreational and/or educational environment. This role routinely uses standard recreation and/or office equipment. At times, employees may be exposed to undesirable working conditions, communicable infectious diseases, and risk of injury from others. All employees are required to always follow the preventative health policies of the YMCA. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.聽
