Position Overview:

As we expand, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team to help us accelerate our product development initiatives.


Location:

We do our best work together! This role is primarily onsite in Syracuse, NY, with some flexibility to work remotely when the role and schedule allow.


Responsibilities:

  • Use 3D solid modeling to design mechanical solutions for tightly controlled enclosures and fixtures 
  • Assistwith orperform structural, thermal, and other failure analyses to meet environmentaland structuralrequirements 
  • Optimizedesigns for feasibility, manufacturability, cost, thermal performance, strength-weight efficiency, and ease of assembly 
  • Create andmaintaincable assemblies/harnesses and other peripheral interface designs 
  • Solve design challenges using a variety of materials and fabrication methods including plastics, composites, metals, 3D-printing, machining, etc.
  • Define,maintain, and communicate requirements to 3rd-party fabrication houses and work closely with them throughcomponentand product delivery
  • Perform design verification and integration of new components and support in-field testing
  • Author assembly instructions and drawings in support of in-house production
  • Aid with the management of bills of material (BOM) and other production and fabrication artifacts
  • Review hardware parts for obsolescence andidentifysuitable replacements
  • Assistwith or provide information in support of project planning, execution, and oversight

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-5 years of professional experience
  • Proficiencywith 3D CAD modeling tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and overcome technical challenges through teamwork and collaboration 
  • Ability to travel 10%


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the design and development ofhardened electronics enclosures
  • Experience providing detailed mechanical design review feedback
  • Proficiencywith performing thermal and structural analysis, detailed tolerance studies, dimensional fits and clearances analysis, and environmental hardening
  • Experience with strict configuration management and design control
  • Experience with the following (or similar): 
  • Design and implementation of radar, communication, and other sensor systems 
  • SolidWorks 3D modeling software 
  • FEA simulation using ANSYS software
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) 
  • Configuration management systems such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM)

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is estimated at $82,000 to $113,000 annually. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
