The Registered Nurse Administrator will collaborate with guests’ parents, and admin team, to provide the optimum environment for all children at Casey’s Place. Responsibilities: Clinical oversight, and supervision of Nurses on-site and contracted Medicaid nurses for Medically Fragile program Oversight of the Medically Fragile Respite program; obtain prior approvals, assign RNs to medical guests on medical weekends, develop doctor orders/nursing care plans and ensure doctor’s signature(s) on care plans Attend intake meetings and complete admission packets for guests Develop and update Individualized Plan of Protection (IPOP), every 6 months (or as needed) for all guests Develop and update Medication Administration Record (MAR), yearly (or as needed) for all guests Update dietary considerations for guests; post for staff Obtain and manage doctors’ orders for medications Provide training for DSPs and medication certified staff as needed; core medical, medication certification, mechanical lift training, yearly re-certifications. Conduct weekly medical equipment checks (Hoyer lifts, AED machine) Maintain medical supplies inventory On-call Maintain a current and on-going knowledge of pediatric health issues and practices through medical literature, in-services, workshops, etc. Construct and revise policies and procedures to promote the safe and effective delivery of health care services to the children of Casey’s Place Be onsite for overnight respite admissions Other Duties as Assigned: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Competencies: Demonstrates Competency and Professional Responsibility in the Charge Nurse Role Be knowledgeable in the medical regulations for OCFS, OPWDD, and OMH Communicates problems involving personnel, medical staff, patients, to the appropriate management personnel Must have proven ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in the care of patients Required Education and Experience: Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing and licensed to practice as a nurse (RN) in the state of New York Pediatric Experience for 2 years preferred Private Duty NYS Medicaid, NPI number and Provider ID (required) High School Diploma or GED, College and experience preferred. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Experience with EHRs and other database, ordering and tracking systems. Experience with scheduling and supervision of medical staff Excellent written and verbal communication CPR Certified Essential Job Qualifications: Ability to lift 25 + pounds without assistance. Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion. Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day. Varying levels of travel as determined by departmental needs may be required with this position.
