Aurora of CNY, an affiliate of Liberty Resources, is looking for a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the Blind Rehabilitation Services Program.

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Position Summary:

The Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist assists consumer who are eligible and in need of orientation and mobility services.  These services are carried out to meet the goals of the agency and provides direct service to assigned consumers who are legally blind and visually impaired.

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Responsibilities: 

• Work directly with consumers to ensure that they obtain services and adaptive equipment that will maximize their functioning, potential and sense of well-being and independence. 
• Conduct ongoing assessments to identify consumer’s strengths and barriers and establish clear goals that directly affect overall safety and independence.  
• Coordination and collaboration with all providers and support services for each consumer served. This includes developing a comprehensive Care Plan and/or IEP to address consumer needs. 
• Maintain relationships with community service providers to ensure individuals are well supported. 
• Complete all required documentation, maintain case records and complete statistical information on time and in accordance with program standards. 

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Qualifications:

Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with O&M Certification from AER approved University Program with two-three years’ experience – required.  AER Certification in Orientation & Mobility required.  Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation.  

Salary Range: $58,000 to $62,000.
