Harvest Preparatory Academy is a charter school located in Yuma, AZ and San Luis, AZ. We are seeking a qualified high energy, fast paced person to keep up with high demand as a school nurse on our San Luis campus.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Implement school health services programs by utilizing established nursing processes for all nursing care.
  2. Implement health office management and inventory control procedures.
  3. Order equipment and supplies according to established procedures.
  4. Establish and maintain accurate and complete health records, including cumulative health records and emergency information for students and staff members.
  5. Carry out preventive health service programs (e.g. vision and hearing screenings) per applicable laws, health department recommendations and school policies.
  6. Assess and evaluate the health status of students through examinations and screenings.
  7. Provide information to teachers and coaches regarding health problems of particular students.
  8. Carry out first aid emergency care procedures as required.
  9. Administer medications according to applicable laws and school policies.
  10. Implement established procedures for other special situations (e.g. child abuse, and pregnancy).
  11. Prepares and/or distributes health information to students, staff and parents.
  12. Utilizes contact with students as opportunities for providing health and safety information.
  13. Posts emergency information and provides first aid supplies at appropriate locations as required.
  14. Participate in in-staff training activities.
  15. Maintains comprehensive records and files required reports.
  16. Promotes the objectives, standards, and policies of the school health program.
  17. Maintains personal professional competence through continuing education and association with professional organizations.
  18. Assists in conducting research activities to identify opportunities for improvement in the school health program.
  19. Perform related duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)   

 

  1. Associate preferred but not required.
  2. CNA or MA certificate preferred.
  3. Current CPR certification.
  4. Fingerprint clearance card required.
  5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
