Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is accountable for achieving standards of nursing care, quality outcomes, and management efficiencies in MultiCare Medical Clinics. This position oversees regulatory and compliance activities in the ambulatory clinics to ensure that all standards for outside regulatory and accreditation agencies are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to clinical standards, policies, and procedures across clinic settings.
  • Partner with the clinical education team to create and deliver clinical training and education programs.
  • Lead and collaborate across teams to drive quality improvement, clinical value, and population health performance initiatives.
  • Support the Chief Nurse Executive in advancing the Pathway to Excellence/Magnet vision and the Nursing Strategic Plan.
  • Provide leadership for all ambulatory nursing roles, including matrixed reporting structures when applicable.
  • Apply strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, financial, and leadership skills to manage complex clinical and operational issues.
  • Maintain effective relationships with physicians, patients, families, regulatory bodies, vendors, and community partners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business administration or related field required.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Washington State or Multistate License endorsement (MLS) required
  • Eight (8) or more years recent clinical experience required
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in more responsible leadership/management roles required
  • Three (3) years of ambulatory clinical experience
  • Experience in ambulatory clinic operations preferred
  • Experience in ANCC Pathway to Excellence or Magnet preferred
  • Knowledge of NCQA and the Patient Centered Medical Home preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $162,676.80 - $224,660.80 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
