Position Summary

The Neurotologist is a key member of the Neuroscience Institute, specializing in the evaluation and surgical management of disorders affecting the temporal bone, facial nerve, auditory and vestibular systems, and lateral skull base. This physician provides expert medical and surgical care for patients with complex skull base pathology, collaborating closely with neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, radiation oncology, audiology, and rehabilitation specialists to deliver comprehensive multidisciplinary care.
The role focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of vestibular schwannomas, meningiomas, facial nerve disorders, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, temporal bone tumors, and other complex neurotologic and skull base conditions. This position offers opportunities to develop a regional skull base program, participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, and contribute to research, education, and quality improvement initiatives within the Neuroscience Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with disorders of the temporal bone, hearing, balance, facial nerve, and lateral skull base
  • Diagnose and treat vestibular schwannomas, meningiomas, facial nerve tumors, temporal bone tumors, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, and other skull base disorders
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, and consultative care for patients with complex neurotologic and skull base conditions
  • Interpret and utilize diagnostic studies including MRI, CT, audiologic testing, vestibular testing, and electrophysiologic assessments
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing medical, surgical, radiation, and rehabilitative therapies
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, expected outcomes, and long-term management plans
  • Maintain accurate medical records and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Participate in multidisciplinary skull base conferences, tumor boards, and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency program
  • Completion of an accredited Neurotology/Otology fellowship with advanced training in lateral skull base surgery
  • Board certified or board eligible in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery
  • Demonstrated expertise in the evaluation and surgical management of skull base tumors and complex neurotologic disorders
  • Experience performing lateral skull base procedures including vestibular schwannoma, meningioma, facial nerve, temporal bone, and cerebrospinal fluid leak surgery
  • Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary skull base programs with neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, radiation oncology, and rehabilitation services
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington State by employment start date
  • DEA registration, NPI, and prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $680,000.00 - $680,000.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
