Overview

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Emergency Dispatcher receives emergency and non-emergency calls, determines the nature and/or severity of the call, and dispatches emergency services by using radio and telecommunications systems to transmit details to appropriate emergency services departments/personnel to respond as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

• Proficient in Law Enforcement ten code
• Ability to remain calm in various situations

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to correct/adjust focus.


CERTIFICATES, LICENES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
• Must possess or obtain Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) or Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certifications within one (1) year of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain the National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications listed below:
     o ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System
     o ICS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
     o IS-700: National Incident Management System An Introduction


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
