Overview

Designs, implements, communicates and administers the compensation programs.  Ensures the compensation program enhances the Nation's ability to recruit and retain employees.  Develops and implements salary structure and administrative guidelines in accordance with compensation policy.  Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within Cherokee Nation.  Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.

 


Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Human Resources or Business Administration with emphasis in Human Resources, Industrial Management with emphasis in Human Resources, or Business related field; or six years experience in field of compensation management.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional four years of experience in a Human Resources managerial position. Prefer experience in Compensation.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Internet software; Payroll systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. World at Work Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SP) preferred. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work.  Ability to multi-task. Effective oral and written communication skills.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

Comprehensive knowledge of compensation, planning, design, implementation, and administration preferred. Knowledge of compensation laws and regulations preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
