Your Opportunity
The Stantec Gulf Water group is seeking a full-time Resilience Planner in Tallahassee who will bring energy and creativity to Stantec’s growing resilience practice. Your work supporting development of forward-looking resilience plans and vulnerability assessments will compliment Stantec’s multi-disciplinary technical expertise in building communities that thrive in the wake of hazards, shocks, and stressors, including the impacts of a changing climate. Â
In this role, your strong understanding of comprehensive planning, land development regulations, and design guidelines will contribute to advancing community resilience, hazard mitigation, and climate adaptation. You will also support risk assessments, floodplain management, and stakeholder engagement to help communities understand, communicate, and reduce their current and future climate and hazard vulnerabilities. You will be responsible for supporting exceptional deliverables through project life cycles, achieving client satisfaction, and maintaining profitability for the projects we execute.Â
Your Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data to support delivery of community resilience planning efforts including, but not limited to hazard mitigation planning, climate adaptation planning, risk assessments, disaster resilience and recovery, and urban/regional planning
- Assist with the drafting of clear and compelling plans, reports, and other deliverables through creative and technical writing, document management, research, and assessmentÂ
- Conduct vulnerability, sensitivity, adaptation and risk and resilience analyses using state of the art tools and spreadsheets.
- Develop graphics and maps using GIS to support narrative informationÂ
- Support public and stakeholder outreach and engagement efforts using a range of techniques to promote inclusive engagement (e.g., presentations, charettes, workshops, surveys, canvassing, etc.)
- Research and advise on community resilience planning best practices, standards, and guidance
- Interact with and develop excellent relations with clients and stakeholders
- Be an active member of the team and passionate about the mission of reducing the impacts of disasters and climate change
