Warehouse Manager

 

Job Type: Full Time (Exempt) 

Location: Tallapoosa, GA  

Reports to: Operations Leader  


Job Summary:

The Warehouse is responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, and the inbound/outbound flow of goods between suppliers, the warehouse, and Production. This role ensures efficient receipt, storage, and timely material movement, while building a well cross-trained team capable of flexing to support changes in daily demand from Customers through to Production. 


Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving

  • Oversee all inbound receiving, including unloading, inspection, verification against POs, and accurate system receipt.
  • Manage all outbound shipping, including order staging, packing, documentation, labeling, and carrier handoff.
  • Ensure shipping/receiving documentation (packing slips, BOLs, ASNs, customs paperwork) is accurate and complete.
  • Resolve receiving discrepancies, damaged shipments, and shipping errors.

Warehouse Management & Operations

  • Maintain and improve materials/warehouse locations and organization, both physical and virtual within Epicor.
  • Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, and dispatch.
  • Drive efficient parts picking and order staging processes.
  • Manage the movement of materials to and from Production to keep the line supplied and avoid disruption.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization for maximum efficiency, and ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of goods.
  • Inventory control. 

Team Development & Flexibility

  • Develop a well cross-trained team able to support changes in daily demand flowing from Customers to Production.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise shipping/receiving, warehouse, and logistics staff, building depth across roles so coverage flexes with workload.
  • Set performance targets, conduct reviews, and foster a safety-first culture.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Maintain equipment, conduct risk assessments, and lead safety training.
  • Ensure compliance with customs, dangerous goods, and relevant regulations.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or materials management experience including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. 
  • Working knowledge of warehouse management systems, inventory control practices, shipping documentation, including customs requirements. 
  • Knowledge of health & safety and transport regulations, including but not limited to forklift operations, material handling practices, and warehouse housekeeping standards.
  • Forklift/equipment certification required or ability to obtain certification within 30 days. 
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of process improvement.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Working Conditions

  • Warehouse and office environment; time spent on the warehouse floor and shipping/receiving dock.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
