The Outside Sales Representative will sell fire sprinkler products and services offered by the company to current and new clientele, with a particular focus on service sales and long-term account development. This role is responsible for securing profitable new business, expanding services to existing customers, and maximizing customer satisfaction and retention within an assigned territory. Duties include identifying and pursuing prospective opportunities, following up on sales leads, preparing accurate proposals, and maintaining relationships with contractors, building owners, and existing clients. This position also requires the ability to understand project scope, estimate costs within company guidelines, and ensure compliance with code requirements, while demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects.

  • Communicates with customers to identify and understand their product or service needs; recommends solutions that meet those needs.

  • Prepares proposals, estimates, and preliminary layouts, ensuring accuracy of pricing, scope, and compliance with company and code requirements.

  • Demonstrates the functions and utility of products and services to customers through consultative presentations and ongoing relationship management.

  • Ensures customer satisfaction through regular communication and resolution of issues; maintains detailed records of interactions and project files.

  • Provides quarterly and annual sales forecasts, meeting established goals and quotas for assigned territory.

  • Stays informed on industry trends, materials, and technology, incorporating improvements to support growth and increased margins.

  • Participates in industry-related associations and maintains professional involvement to strengthen customer and market relationships.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; OR at least five years of related experience.

  • A minimum of 2 years of sprinkler sales experience

  • Experience in field construction or building services sales strongly preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and customer service skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and projects.

  • Working knowledge of contract law, project accounting, and project management systems.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to travel within assigned territory.
