Position Overview:
The Project Manager II leads larger, more complex commercial construction projects and is accountable for overall project performance, including financial outcomes, client satisfaction, and team leadership. This role is responsible for developing execution strategies, driving project success, and strengthening long-term client relationships. This position will be located in the Tampa area, with the expectation of flexibility to travel throughout Florida to support projects and business needs in markets where HCC maintains operations, in particular, Ocala.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage larger, more complex projects with increased budgets (typically up to $10 million)
- Develop comprehensive project strategies and detailed execution plans from preconstruction through closeout
- Lead project teams, ensuring alignment across field staff, subcontractors, and internal departments
- Oversee all aspects of project financials, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and fee projection accuracy
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, safety standards, and company policies
- Drive project scheduling efforts, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved on time
- Lead contract negotiations, change management, and dispute resolution
- Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining project quality and performance standards
- Build strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and positioning the company to secure future work
- Mentor and support Assistant Project Managers and Project Manager I team members
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- 5–8 years of experience managing commercial construction projects
- Experience leading larger teams and coordinating multiple project stakeholders
- Demonstrated success managing projects in the $5M–$10M range
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong proficiency in Sage, TimberScan, and Procore Financial tools
- Advanced project scheduling capabilities using MS Project and Procure Scheduling
- Expertise in accurate fee projection forecasting and financial management
- Ability to develop and execute complex project strategies
- Proven ability to build client loyalty and secure repeat business
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and team development capabilities
Certifications
- Microsoft Project Certification – Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling, planning, and resource management
