Job Summary

We’re looking for a Chemical Process Operator (Heat Treat) to operate and monitor vacuum and partial pressure heat treatment furnaces used to process aerospace components. In this role, you will ensure parts are heat treated to precise customer specifications while maintaining equipment performance, product quality, and process compliance.

Shift: 5th shift, Friday-Sunday 5:00p-5:00a

Shift Differential:$3.50

Training: During the training period, employees may be required to work a schedule outside of their regularly assigned shift to support hands-on learning & development. Training is typically conducted Monday-Friday and may occur on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift based on business needs. Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to their assigned shift.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operate vacuum and partial pressure heat treatment furnaces to process aerospace components.
  • Load and unload furnaces safely and efficiently.
  • Select, verify, and run heat treat programs using furnace control software.
  • Program load parameters and monitor furnace cycles from start to finish.
  • Review and print process charts and documentation for completed heat treatment cycles.
  • Submit required test materials to support process approvals and quality requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs.
  • Coordinate and support scheduled equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and downtime records.
  • Follow all safety, quality, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement and housekeeping initiatives within the department.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding work instructions.
  • 6+ months of manufacturing, assembly, inspection, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with heat treat operations, ovens, furnaces, or thermal processing equipment.
  • Forklift certification or previous forklift experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, metal processing, casting, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and basic equipment repairs.
  • Familiarity with furnace controls, process monitoring software, or manufacturing data systems.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and varying noise levels.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and material handling throughout the shift.
  • Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, industrial equipment, and process machinery.
  • Requires close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated work areas.

 

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
