Position Summary

Upchurch is seeking a skilled Plumbing Service Technician to join our growing service team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing plumbing systems within commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused professional with strong troubleshooting abilities, experience in commercial service environments, and a commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment.

• Service and maintain domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and gas piping systems.

• Troubleshoot plumbing issues and provide effective repair recommendations.

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on plumbing equipment and systems.

• Install, repair, and replace piping, valves, fixtures, water heaters, pumps, and related equipment.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and plumbing diagrams.

• Complete service tickets, work orders, and documentation accurately and timely.

• Communicate professionally with customers regarding findings, repair options, and recommendations.

• Ensure all work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and applicable plumbing codes.

• Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

• Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment.

• Identify and communicate potential repair, replacement, and service opportunities to customers.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial plumbing service experience preferred.

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Experience servicing commercial buildings, industrial facilities, healthcare, education, office, manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.

  • Knowledge of local plumbing codes and industry best practices.

  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Basic computer and mobile technology proficiency for service documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent experience.

  • Backflow Certification (preferred).

  • Medical Gas Certification (preferred).

  • Experience working within commercial MEP service environments.

  • Preventative maintenance experience.

  • Experience with service software and mobile work order systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, crawl spaces, and confined spaces.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions.
