Responsibilities:

  • Develop and synchronize Public Affairs (PA) strategies, communication plans, and outreach activities that support commander priorities, operational objectives, and strategic messaging goals.

  • Advise senior leaders, Public Affairs personnel, and stakeholders on communication strategies, audience engagement approaches, messaging opportunities, and media considerations.

  • Integrate Public Affairs activities into operational planning processes to ensure alignment with campaigns, operations, exercises, and engagement efforts.

  • Develop and oversee public messaging products, including press releases, talking points, media guidance, communication plans, briefing materials, and digital content strategies.

  • Coordinate with media organizations, government agencies, mission partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and effective communication.

  • Monitor media environments, public sentiment, emerging narratives, and misinformation trends to identify risks, opportunities, and recommended response actions.

  • Analyze communication performance metrics, audience engagement data, and campaign effectiveness to refine messaging and improve communication outcomes.

  • Plan and support media engagements, press conferences, outreach campaigns, leadership engagements, and public affairs events to advance organizational objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience supporting Public Affairs, Strategic Communications, Media Relations, Communications Planning, or related mission areas.
    Demonstrated experience developing communication strategies, media engagement plans, public messaging products, and executive communication materials.

  • Experience coordinating with government agencies, media organizations, senior leaders, and external stakeholders in support of communication objectives.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing strategic communication products, briefings, and decision-support materials for leadership.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Strategic Communications, International Relations, or a related field.

  • Experience supporting Combatant Commands, Joint Task Forces, Department of Defense organizations, or government communication programs.

  • Demonstrated experience integrating Public Affairs activities with Information Operations (IO), Operations in the Information Environment (OIE), strategic communications, audience analysis, or influence-related activities.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
