We have an immediate opening for a Senior Bridge Engineer in our Tampa, FL office. This position will play an important role in expanding our market presence in Florida and supporting our Bridge Group companywide.  Core responsibilities will include performing the design of new bridges and bridge widening/rehabilitation projects; performing evaluation, inspection, and load rating services for existing bridges; providing technical oversight and/or Quality Assurance/Quality Control reviews; and mentoring younger staff.  Successful candidates will have experience designing major concrete and/or steel bridge projects and shall have a demonstrated ability to develop bridge engineering plans primarily for public sector clients including FDOT and other state departments of transportation, municipal clients, and other public entities.  Our transportation contracts include a wide variety of structure types ranging from miscellaneous structures (culverts, signal and sign supports, noise walls, etc.) to major concrete and steel bridges.  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 16+ years of bridge design experience
  • P.E., registered in the state of Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience designing bridge projects and preparing contract documents in accordance with FDOT policies and procedures
  • Experience designing major concrete and/or steel bridge structures such as continuous post-tensioned concrete beams, curved steel I-girders or box girders, segmental concrete superstructures, post-tensioned concrete substructures, or bridges subject to vessel collision loads
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO bridge design specifications
  • Strong experience with FDOT specifications, policies and procedures
  • Experience with a variety of bridge design software
  • Track record of establishing strong external and internal relationships
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff of all levels 
  • Ability to travel to project sites, company offices and client meetings
  • Excellent reputation as an engineering professional
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or other advanced degree desirable
  • Experience with other state and local DOT agencies in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic 
  • Experience with Alternative Delivery projects (Design-Build, P3, etc.)
