Description

In this critical role, the Superintendent for CBI Construction (“CBI”) is required to oversee, coordinate and manage project trade partners. Superintendents are required to manage work flow to the completion of the project as required by the schedule and they must be able to maintain daily reports and type in progress updates on a computer. Proactive planning and problem solving under pressure and time constraints will be necessary. Proficiency in OSHA standards and working safe is mandatory. The position reports directly to the Senior Superintendent and may also work with CBI’s Director of Field Operations & Safety as needed.


Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Read and interpret plans, specifications and scopes of work to determine project requirements
  • Manage trade partners by evaluating and measuring their progress against the schedule as well as monitoring and controlling their performance
  • Help resolve design problems through the RFI process, as needed
  • Participate in quality control process by conducting inspections at critical phases and producing written reports as defined by the corporate QA/QC Program
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, OSHA regulations, Corporate Safety Program, etc.
  • Keep the Senior Superintendent informed of any variances from construction documents, project schedules or overall quality of work
  • Oversee document flow to the Senior Superintendent
  • Accurately prepare trade partner progress status reports on a daily basis
  • Schedule/conduct all necessary inspections with city officials, government, and private agencies as requested by the Senior Superintendent

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Capable of relocating to project sites for the duration of the project
  • Ability to use office equipment for communication and documentation purposes
  • Proven experience managing or supporting student housing construction projects with strict, academic-calendar-driven deadlines
  • Visual acuity to perform responsibilities
  • Must have the physical capacity to walk stairs and on rough terrain for extended periods
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work hours that exceed a typical 8 AM to 5 PM day and work weekends on a rotating basis or as needed in order to meet project milestones
  • Accurate and attentive to detail
