Job Summary

We're looking for a Tool Room Supervisor to lead our tooling operations team and support the delivery of critical tooling that enables investment casting production across Chromalloy's Parts business. This role provides leadership, direction, and coaching while overseeing tool builds from quotation through release, ensuring tooling is delivered on time, right the first time, and at the lowest total installed cost. Based on the attached leadership posting template, the role emphasizes leadership, operational excellence, safety, quality, and employee development.

At Chromalloy, your work directly supports aviation safety and reliability. Our teams repair and manufacture critical aerospace components used across the global aviation industry. Location: On-Site, Oldsmar, FL

Shift: 1st shift Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm

What You’ll Be Doing

Tooling Execution and Scheduling

  • Coordinate all tooling activity from solicitation through shipment — quotation, build planning, procurement, machining, fitting, tryout, inspection, and release.
  • Develop detailed tooling quotations and build plans; validate estimated hours, materials, and outside services against actuals and close the loop on variance.
  • Maintain the master build schedule; assign work by skill and priority; report status, risk, and recovery plans to the Tooling Manager on a defined cadence.
  • Manage the outsourced tooling network — RFQs, quote and queue evaluation, purchase orders, and supplier delivery and quality performance.
  • Enter and manage requisitions for equipment, tooling, materials, and consumables supporting approved build plans and capital projects.

Technical Ownership and Quality

  • Review all new tool construction and rework for conformance to the Chromalloy tooling manual, functionality, producibility, and safety.
  • Update CAD models in NX to resolve producibility issues; maintain configuration control and revision discipline.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, CAD models, and ATOS scan data to drive die targeting, dimensional correction, and mismatch resolution.
  • Partner with the customer plants and process engineering so tools release to the floor immediately on receipt — no fitting loop, no turnback.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate degree, technical/trade school certificate, completed tool and die apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in tooling design, build, repair, or machining operations.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a tool room, machine shop, or skilled trades environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, CAD models, tooling specifications, and inspection data.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining, EDM, grinding, tool fitting, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems for purchasing, job costing, and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting investment casting tooling, including wax dies, core dies, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Aerospace or industrial gas turbine manufacturing experience.
  • Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or similar CAD/PLM system experience.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, CMM inspection, and scan data analysis.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Leadership Expectations and Values

  • Sets Direction: Aligns people and decisions to Chromalloy’s vision and delivers results through transparency and accountability.
  • Business Leadership: Drives enterprise value through sound judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and customer focus.
  • Leads with Courage: Communicates openly, addresses challenges directly, and fosters accountability.
  • Acts Decisively: Makes informed decisions, empowers others, and drives continuous improvement.
  • Builds Talent: Develops diverse, high-performing teams through trust, respect, and inclusion.
  • Owns Results: Sets clear expectations, establishes standards, and delivers operational excellence.
