Verizon Global Infrastructure is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer (Network Security & Zero Trust Architect) to lead the security design and implementation of our next-generation data center network zones. In this role, you will be the primary architect responsible for integrating security and networking services into a unified, Zero Trust framework across our Fortune 50 enterprise.

You will lead the creation of separate, secure network segments to house critical IT management systems and tools. Working with cutting-edge technology and driving vendor roadmaps, you will redefine the future of network security by ensuring that all connectivity—from edge locations to the IT data center—is inherently secure and compliant with global standards.

What you’ll be doing...

  • Architect Zero Trust Solutions: Design and implement enterprise-wide Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and micro-segmentation architectures for new data center zones.

  • Drive Network Transformation: Provide architectural oversight for global initiatives, specifically focusing on edge security and data center isolation to support digital transformation goals.

  • Define Security Standards: Establish technical roadmaps, Low Level Design (LLD) diagrams, and best practices for secure, scalable network deployments (Firewalls, Proxies, IAM).

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with IT leadership and cross-functional teams (security, cloud, networking) to align identity-based security policies with business objectives.

  • Technology & Vendor Management: Evaluate and recommend security technologies (FW, Proxy, CASB) while managing vendor relationships to drive feature enhancements.

  • Technical Leadership: Lead Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for new solutions and mentor engineering teams on emerging vulnerabilities and exploits.

What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

  • Four or more years of experience in enterprise network architecture and security design.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience in large-scale Fortune 50 enterprise environments with complex security and networking requirements.

  • Prior experience leading digital transformation initiatives with a heavy focus on cloud-delivered security services.

  • Experience in new technology development and testing of automated security policy enforcement.

  • Strong expertise in Zero Trust frameworks, micro-segmentation, and SASE/SSE products.

  • Hands-on experience with next-generation firewalls (NGFW), proxies, VPNs, and IAM.

  • Deep knowledge of cloud-native security models and their integration with physical data center infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of industry security standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS benchmarks.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to stakeholders and executives.

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCIE Security, or related SASE certifications are a plus.

  • Self-motivated, forward-thinking, and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
