Position Summary
The Patient Service Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service in a healthcare setting. This position is responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient records, verifying insurance information, and ensuring smooth communication between patients, providers, and administrative staff.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and collect required documentation.
  • Maintain and update accurate patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, medical staff, and other departments.
  • Check patients in and out for appointments.
  • Process co-payments, balances, and basic billing inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy regulations, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Assist with referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments.
  • All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
