A successful Child Care Specialist is someone who has a high level of patience and tolerance for frustration. Initiative, dependability and accuracy are important. The ability to analyze situations and mange them in a proactive manner is helpful with a desire and ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision. Key Responsibilities: - This position requires moderate to high complex job skills and a high level of job autonomy. Knowledge of behavior philosophies and best practices in the field of child development and behavior are necessary. Must demonstrate competence in working with young children. Must have knowledge of early childhood developmental stages and be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with the families and children. Must possess good problem-solving skills. - The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance. - Supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care, organize mealtimes and snacks for children, help children keep good hygiene; change the diapers of infants and toddler. Responsible for cleanliness of the facility including cleaning bathroom, playroom, and laundry. - Knowledge of child development theory and practices as well as safe and appropriate child activities. Organize activities so that children can learn about the world and explore interests, develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime, watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of parents. QualificationsRequired Experience: - High School Diploma or equivalent required - Associate’s Degree preferred - Must be First Aid and CPR Certified prior to hire Required Experience: - Minimum of three (3) years experience working with children or CDA certificate and at least one (1) year experience working with children Required Skills and Abilities: - Strong understanding of child development stages and the ability to tailor activities to meet the developmental needs of children. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues. - Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters learning and development. - Proficiency in observing and documenting children's progress and communicating this effectively to parents and guardians. - Skills in crisis management and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. - Ability to work collaboratively within a team to support the overall goals of the childcare program.
