ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

This position is responsible for the execution, coordination, and continuous improvement of all recycling and waste reduction activities within the manufacturing facility. This position serves as the facility subject matter expert for recycling operations supporting company sustainability goals, cost reduction initiatives, and environmental compliance requirements through the collection, segregation, processing, documentation, and shipment of recyclable materials.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Recycling

  • Collect, sort, process, and prepare recyclable materials for shipment.
  • Operate recycling equipment, including vertical hydraulic balers and associated material handling equipment.
  • Monitor recycling collection points throughout the facility and maintain material flow.
  • Coordinate pickup schedules with recycling vendors and service providers.
  • Verify material weights and maintain shipping documentation.

Waste Reduction

  • Identify opportunities to reduce landfill disposal and improve recycling rates.
  • Support implementation of waste reduction projects and sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct periodic waste stream assessments.
  • Recommend process improvements that improve recycling efficiency and reduce costs.

Equipment Management

  • Perform routine inspections of recycling equipment.
  • Report equipment issues and coordinate maintenance requests.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards around recycling and waste management areas.
  • Ensure equipment is operated according to safety requirements and manufacturer recommendations.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Ability to read, write, and follow written/verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow all company safety rules and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Physical requirements: lift to 60 lbs. daily; occasional bending, squatting, pushing, sitting, and pulling.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and recycling equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions typical of a manufacturing facility; the majority of day is an outside environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school education or the equivalent.
  • Requires 3-5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous forklift experience with proven ability to safely operate large-capacity lifts 
  • Experience maneuvering equipment in congested or restricted spaces. 
  • Specialized training in material handling 
  • Ability to retrieve materials from assigned locations.
  • Career Readiness Certification

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: 

Must be able to get certified; a Forklift License is required

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • OJT On-the-job training provided
  • RFGEN SCANNING
