Railcar Abrasive Blaster
Location: Beaumont, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift, starting at 6:00 AM
Pay: $20/hr and up


About the Role

Iron Horse is growing, and we are hiring up to three Railcar Abrasive Blasters to support our expanding Paint Operations in Beaumont, TX.


As a Railcar Abrasive Blaster, you will play a critical role in preparing freight railcars for coating by removing paint, rust, grease, and other surface materials. Your work helps ensure railcars are properly prepared for coating and meet our standards for quality, durability, and safety.

This is a stable, full-time day-shift position with opportunities to develop additional skills in coatings, inspection, and specialty railcar repair. If you take pride in hard work, have a strong attention to detail, and enjoy working in a team-focused environment, we want to hear from you.


What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate abrasive blasting equipment on interior and exterior railcar surfaces
  • Clean, mask, and prepare designated areas of freight railcars
  • Remove parts that do not require blasting or painting
  • Use hand-held blasting tools to remove old coatings, rust, grease, and debris
  • Read and accurately follow job work orders and scope-of-work instructions
  • Identify and notify supervisors of necessary railcar repairs or additional work
  • Perform work efficiently, safely, and within allotted timeframes
  • Maintain blasting equipment and work areas in clean, safe, and working condition
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Work effectively with other members of the Paint Operations team


What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of experience in railcar preparation, abrasive blasting, or a related industrial field preferred
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Familiarity with blasting tools and related equipment
  • Experience with hydroblasting, sandblasting, or sponge jet blasting is a plus
  • Ability to read basic work drawings and follow scope-of-work instructions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop within the railcar repair industry

Working Environment

  • Frequent lifting (up to 75 lbs solo, 150 lbs team lift)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, climbing, and reaching
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Use of respirators and other PPE as required
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions
  • Industrial work environment requiring consistent attention to safety
