Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring facility equipment and machines are maintained properly and working correctly. The Maintenance Engineer will provide maintenance, electric and engineering services and support at all St Croix Regional Medical Center locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage organization preventive and corrective maintenance.  
  • 1.1. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for fire and life safety systems
  • 1.2. Respond to alarms including trouble, fire and supervisory alarms on system panels
  • 1.3. Complete required drills including reports
  • 1.4. Respond to alarms per fire response plan

2. Perform general building maintenance tasks.  

  • 2.1. Oversee operation of HVAC system ensuring proper control sequence and minimal energy consumption; log inconsistent operations and make corrections as needed
  • 2.2. Execute general building maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, hanging/removing items on walls, installing/uninstalling furniture and other items, moving furniture, boxes, file cabinets, construction materials, assist with minor wall repairs, painting, lock repair and install, replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, cleaning vents and fixtures
  • 2.3. Safely and properly utilize hand and power tools needed to accomplish assigned tasks
  • 2.4. Perform general maintenance and repair of facility and building equipment including conducting routine and scheduled checks on assigned equipment and systems 
  • 2.5. Respond to work order requests as assigned in a timely manner

3. Perform basic grounds maintenance activities.  

  • 3.1. Execute grounds maintenance tasks, including snow removal, trash pick-up, grass cutting and trimming using a variety of equipment including truck with plow and sander, Bobcat loader, lawn mower, trimmer, sweeper and snow blower

4. Other duties as assigned.

  • 4.1. Perform all other job duties as assigned in support of the SCRMC mission
  • 4.2. Utilize safety data sheets when handling chemicals
  • 4.3. Maintain and repair patient care equipment
  • 4.4. Assist with special projects
  • 4.5. Provide required support to contractors and vendors
  • 4.6. Respond to emergency calls

Requirements

Education & Licensure:

  • Valid Minnesota or Wisconsin driver’s license
  • Boilers License and/or Wisconsin Healthcare Engineers Mechanic Certification (completed within 6 months of hire date)
  • Low Pressure Steam Engineering course completion

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience preferably in healthcare facility maintenance
  • Thorough understanding of hospital procedures, mechanical systems and equipment

  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy work that includes moving/lifting objects up to 50 pounds unassisted, over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Working indoors and outdoors in varying types of weather including precipitation, hot and cold temperatures
  • Ascending or descending ladders and stairs
  • Operating power tools and machinery
