JOB SUMMARY:Â
The Senior Construction Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for the direct oversight, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. This position ensures that all field operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans, schedules, and regulatory requirements. The Senior Superintendent provides strong onsite leadership, maintains rigorous quality control, and serves as the primary liaison between subcontractors, project management, and ownership.Â
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Â
Project Oversight and Leadership
• Provide comprehensive on-site supervision and ensure work is executed in accordance with allÂ
drawings, specifications, and contractual obligations.Â
• Lead and guide subcontractors, field personnel, and vendors to maintain productivity andÂ
project alignment.Â
• Collaborate with the project manager to update and maintain project schedules, identifyingÂ
and mitigating potential delays.Â
• Oversee and support the training and performance development of project team members.Â
Safety ManagementÂ
• Enforce strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.Â
• Conduct routine safety audits, site inspections, and safety briefings to ensure compliance andÂ
mitigate risk.Â
• Proactively identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective measures to preventÂ
incidents and maintain a secure jobsite environment
Quality Assurance and ComplianceÂ
• Monitor work in progress and ensure all completed work meets specifications, drawingÂ
requirements, company standards and industry best practices.Â
• Coordinate required inspections with engineers, architects, and local regulatory agencies.Â
Project Documentation and ReportingÂ
• Maintain accurate daily logs, safety records, delivery logs, RFIs, and site photos.Â
• Promptly communicate delays, discrepancies, or field-related issues to the project manager.Â
• Provide project teams, trade partners, and ownership with timely and accurate scheduleÂ
updates.Â
Â
Subcontractor and Vendor CoordinationÂ
• Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to projectÂ
timelines.Â
• Verify delivery and installation of materials in accordance with project specifications.Â
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with all trades to support seamlessÂ
project execution from start to finish.Â
Field Issue ResolutionÂ
• Address design conflicts, unforeseen site conditions, and operational challenges throughÂ
proactive problem-solving.Â
• Coordinate with project teams to develop clear, practical solutions that minimize disruption.Â
Material, Equipment, and Site ManagementÂ
• Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials; verify all equipment on-site is in safeÂ
working condition.Â
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite environment.Â
• Ensure the secure and proper storage of all materials and equipment.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Â
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial construction experience, with at least 5 yearsÂ
in a superintendent-level role.Â
• Strong knowledge of commercial building systems, construction sequencing, and fieldÂ
operations.Â
• Proven experience with ground-up construction, complex remodels, and tenantÂ
improvements.Â
• OSHA 30 certification preferred; additional safety credentials are a plus.Â
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:Â
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.Â
• Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings, engineering documents, and constructionÂ
specifications.Â
• Competence in using project management software, digital reporting tools, and mobileÂ
applications.Â
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meetÂ
deadlines.Â
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Â
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Â
• Work is performed primarily on active construction sites with exposure to varying weatherÂ
conditions and construction-related hazards.Â
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and navigating uneven or elevated surfaces.Â
• Regular interactions with subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and project managementÂ
personnel.Â
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Â
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Â
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and operate equipment for extended periods.Â
• Ability to work at heights or within confined spaces as required by the jobsite.Â
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Â
• Local and regional travel as needed to oversee project sites and attend meetings.Â
