Job Description

Production Supervisor – Job Summary

Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining high production, quality, and yield standards while ensuring the safest working environment possible and maintaining strict Animal Welfare standards. This role requires a strong understanding and control of the production process, accurate recordkeeping, line oversight, staffing coordination, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include reviewing daily production orders to ensure customer fulfillment, ensuring all production positions are staffed prior to line startup, overseeing Team Member warm-up exercises and job rotation practices to support ergonomics, and monitoring equipment performance to ensure optimal operation.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all workstations pass USDA inspection requirements

  • Promoting safety daily and through monthly safety meetings

  • Maintaining proper lot control and product coding procedures

  • Ensuring accurate shipments and inventory rotation

  • Maintaining compliance with Animal Welfare, food safety, quality, and company standards

  • Communicating company benefits and compensation policies to Team Members

  • Coaching, training, counseling, and retaining Team Members

  • Supporting employee relations and team development

  • Overseeing processing operations and collaborating with other supervisors to resolve operational issues

  • Maintaining records regarding reworked or returned product

  • Providing ongoing education regarding quality standards and expectations

  • Performing additional duties as needed

Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma preferred

  • Additional education beyond high school, including vocational training, technical certifications, or college coursework, is preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills required

  • Basic computer skills preferred

  • Ability to lead and supervise production Team Members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of safety, quality, production, and USDA standards preferred

  • Ability to promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising a group of employees performing similar and related production tasks and activities

Travel

  • 1–5 trips per year
