Summary:
Complete work in fabrication of structural or sheet metal products by performing the following duties.
Â
Essential duties and responsibilities:Â include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lifts, positions, and removes workpieces from machine areas to assist in fitting and welding.-
- Obtains information from blue prints/drawings then uses tape and marks reference points –
- Reads and comprehends standard and metric tape measures.
- Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck.
- Attaches straps or grappling equipment to workpieces to prepare workpiece for moving by fork truck or tugger.
- Cleans and scrapes metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, or painting.
- Paints fabricated items.
- Troubleshoots fabricated items in order to fix or repair once worn.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Performs other routine duties.

 Able to use tools listed in a safe manner: plasma cutter, Bridgeport mill, welders (MIG, stick and TIG), metal shear, bender (sheet metal & tube), cold saw, and various hand power tools.Â
Education and/or Experience :Â Â
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:Â Â
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
