Technical Skills

  • Wind Tunnel Operations 
    • Understanding of Aerodynamics theory
    • Understanding of experimental methods and analysis
    • Experience with Wind Tunnel testing
  • Data Acquisition & Analysis – Collect, process, and interpret test data accurately
    • Prefer experience with National Instruments
  • Basic CFD Knowledge – Understanding of computational fluid dynamics principles for collaboration with simulation teams
    • Experience with Star CCM+ or Altair CFD preferred
  • Instrumentation & Sensors – Familiarity with pressure taps, load cells, and flow measurement devices preferred
  • Mechanical Aptitude – Ability to handle test rigs, fixtures, and troubleshoot/repair basic mechanical issues
  • Electronics - Basic aptitude of simple control electronics; steppers, motors, sensors, Etc.
  • CAD Literacy – Basic skills in CAD software for component visualization and test setup. 
    • Experience with Creo Preferred
  • Coding - Familiarity with below environments is preferred
    • MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW
    • Arduino
  • Basic FEA Knowledge – Solid understanding of structural mechanics and numerical methods to facilitate effective communication with the structural simulation team. Familiarity with Hypermesh or the Altair suite is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving – Strong theoretical foundations and ability to apply analytical, paper-and-pencil approaches. Skilled at breaking down complex technical challenges into manageable components.

  • Attention to Detail – Maintain precision in measurements, documentation, and reporting.
  • Collaboration – Work effectively with engineers and cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Adaptability – Quickly shift between wind tunnel and CFD-related tasks as priorities change.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
    A Bachelor’s degree with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Previous experience in the role is not mandatory, though it will be valued.

PAY 

Below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in the following locations: 

California Base Pay Range: (25 - 35 /hour) 

*At Specialized, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and will depend on your work experience, skills, certification, and location.
