SUMMARY Â
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Business Development Engineer to assist in the implementation of Business Development goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary as you will interact with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. Your ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality will be vital to your success in this role.Â

RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
- Provide assistance to the manager of and director on market sector positioning, and lead research for current and future marketsÂ
- Serve as a networking link with engineering consultants and subcontractorsÂ
- Perform research, compile market data, customer cold calling, and networking in support of business lead prospecting effortsÂ
- Assist with scheduling customer meetings and other customer engagement activitiesÂ
- Perform technical writing for proposals, qualifications, submittals, and branding materialsÂ
- Ensure schedules and various aspects of the proposal (Technical Scope, Staff Qualification and Experience, and Biographical Data, etc.), as well as marketing materials are accurate and delivered in a timely mannerÂ
- Support proposal preparation, including gathering, verifying, and formatting proposal informationÂ
- Help prepare materials for customer presentations and attend pre-proposal meetingsÂ
- Perform general coordination of information between business development and preconstructionÂ
- Coordinate and participate in business development activities such as trade show appearances, conventions, and conferencesÂ
- Support your team members with administrative functions, such as meeting minutes, customer happiness surveys, file maintenance, lead data management, financial projections, and customer data managementÂ

QUALIFICATIONSÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Â
- Demonstrate understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesÂ
- Display Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelÂ
- Current driver’s licenseÂ
- Minimum three years construction experience Â
- Persuasive, persistent, winsome self-starter motivated by challenge and changeÂ
- Effectively work with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsÂ
- Adaptive, effective communication and active listening skillsÂ
- Consistent record of including diverse team members when assigning challenging and high-profile tasksÂ
- Travel of up to 30% of time may be necessary to fulfill your objectives in the positionÂ

The base pay range for this role is $80,900 MIN - $109,300 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).Â
Â
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.Â
