TSI was founded in 1973 in Tempe, Arizona, by our current owner and president. We now run two shifts and employ over 100 people. We're located about five minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

About the Role:

As a CNC Lathe/Mill Operator in the aerospace manufacturing industry, you will play a critical role in producing precision aerospace components by operating and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) lathe/mill machines. This position requires a strong attention to detail to ensure that all machined parts meet exact specifications and quality standards. The operator will interpret technical drawings and blueprints to set up machines, select appropriate tools, and adjust machine settings accordingly. The role involves continuous monitoring of the machining process to detect and correct any deviations or defects promptly. Ultimately, the CNC Lathe/Mill Operator contributes to efficient production workflows and the delivery of high-quality products that meet customer and industry requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating CNC lathe/mill machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and machining instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of machining tools, materials, and safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and quality control standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal CNC machining or manufacturing technology program.
  • Experience with CNC programming and machine setup.
  • Certification from a recognized machining or manufacturing organization.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with CAD/CAM software.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathe/mill machines according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
  • Program CNC machines using G-code or other programming languages to produce precise parts.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure parts are produced within tolerance and quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Adjust machine controls and tooling as necessary to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Document production data, machine settings, and any issues encountered during operation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve machining problems and improve processes.

The CNC Lathe/Mill Operator uses technical skills daily to interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into precise machine setups. Attention to detail is essential for monitoring the machining process and ensuring that all parts meet strict quality standards.
