Summary

SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting IT operations in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. In this role, interns will monitor IT systems for software and hardware communication issues, assist internal employees with technical support inquiries, and help troubleshoot and resolve technology-related problems. The intern will provide exceptional customer service, perform problem-solving over the phone, and escalate issues as needed while working alongside experienced professionals. This opportunity allows students to apply classroom learning to real-world challenges, develop technical and professional skills, and gain valuable exposure to SRP's technology operations, culture, and commitment to innovation and service excellence.
 
  • Data Center Operations operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, weekends included.
  • The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
  • In order to be eligible for the Student Intern Program at SRP, the employee must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree or certificate from an accredited college or university.

What You'll Do

Monitor IT systems to detect error messages that signal malfunctions in communications of software and/or hardware and respond appropriately per documented procedures.

 

  • Provide phone assistance to internal SRP clients with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating patience while effectively dealing with client problems.
  • Perform problem-solving over the phone and determine appropriate course of problem escalation as required.

Education

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

Experience

Preferred requirements include familiarity with many of the following:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • MS365 (Teams, Excel, Word), Outlook
  • Windows Operating System
  • Internet Explorer, to include understanding configuration and properties
  • Networking, to include general knowledge of user accounts and login, FTP, dial-up/VPN, and Intranet vs. Internet
  • Desktop hardware, including the ability to problem-solve hardware component issues
  • Laptop hardware, including wireless
  • Batch processing

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

College level coursework (100 or higher) from an accredited institution is preferred. Management will evaluate college-level coursework individually to determine if it is applicable to the position and relevant to the required skills. Knowledge such as accounting, general administrative principles, communications, marketing, personnel, finance, training, business and other non-scientific fields.

Testing and Certifications

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
