Job Purpose: Responsible for ensuring proper training and supervision of all EngineeringÂ
personnel and to provide consistent, cost-effective maintenance programs thatÂ
ensure the property’s safe and efficient operation.
Essential Job Functions:
o Coordinate and operate, in an economic, legal and safe manner, all R&M & UtilityÂ
expenses.
o Managing Birchstreet for all R&M expenses, participate in all month-end financial processÂ
and forecasting.
o Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program forÂ
public spaces, guestrooms and equipment. All work request and preventive maintenance toÂ
be managed in Synergy.
o Coordinate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety,Â
health standards and legal requirements set forth by hotel policy.
o Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering associates in coordination with theÂ
Director of Associate Services.Â
o Recommend capital budget projects, obtain bids, and oversee contractors for projectÂ
execution. Manage special permits and licenses as required.
o Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors.
o Maintain own and resort’s special permits and licenses as required by local, state andÂ
federal authorities.
o Control schedules, staffing, and payroll for the Engineering team. Maintain personnelÂ
records, utility logs, and engineering records.
o Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries,Â
and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.Â
o Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professionalÂ
personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protectÂ
company assets.Â
o Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop,Â
and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality,Â
safety, and/or cost-savings.Â
o Responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly department meetings.
o Effectively coach and counsel associates as needed and complete performanceÂ
evaluations.
o Attend all company required training.
o Champion the Omni / Power of One / Power of Engagement culture.
Qualifications:
o Minimum 5 years’ hospitality Engineering experience required or in a similar field.
o Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing is preferred. CPO and EPA certifications areÂ
required. If currently do not possess, it will be required to obtain within 6 months ofÂ
employment.
o Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management, and all life safetyÂ
systems pertinent to hotel operations.
o Knowledgeable in safety use for: power tools, general engineering tools and equipment,Â
pool pumps and filtration systems.
o Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, power, water and sewer distribution, blueprints, fireÂ
codes and fire protection.Â
o Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills. Must possessÂ
effective teamwork and guest relations.
o Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for workÂ
direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.Â
o Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed,Â
according to Omni standards, including timekeeping, vendor contracts, and personnelÂ
action forms.
o Possess Relevant industry certifications and licenses as required by local authorities.
Physical Requirements:
o Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight withoutÂ
assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
o Responds quickly to sounds. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Identify and respond toÂ
dangerous situations. Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight.Â
Wear personal protective equipment when required.
Working Environment:
o Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
o Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
Tools & Equipment:
o Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment.Â
o Desktop computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, telephone, to include other officeÂ
supplies and equipment.
