We are seeking an experienced HVAC / Preventive Maintenance Technician. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems and other preventive maintenance activities. Candidates should have strong diagnostic skills, EPA certification, commercial HVAC experience, and the ability to complete projects in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary: The HVAC / PM Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of HVAC systems and facility equipment. This role supports safe and efficient building operations by completing scheduled maintenance tasks, diagnosing mechanical issues, and responding to service requests in residential, commercial, or industrial environments. 

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Work Coordination: Evaluate progress against performance standards; identify and resolve deficiencies; ensure deadlines are met; and provide project status updates to your supervisor.
  • Planning and Organizing: Prioritize tasks, coordinate resources, anticipate impacts and risks, and adapt plans as needed to align with organizational goals.
  • Communication: Communicate professionally with students, staff, families, and the public using strong written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Demonstrate ethical behavior, consistent attendance, and adherence to the company’s attendance policy.
  • Decision Making and Problem Solving: Take a thoughtful, collaborative approach to resolving challenges and making decisions.
  • Computer Skills: Utilize company systems to manage work orders and maintenance schedules. Learn new systems and software as needed.
  • Physical Requirements: Possess the physical ability and vision needed to perform hands-on tasks including lifting (up to 75 lbs), climbing, bending, working outdoors, and operating tools safely.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor in all operations related to the upkeep, repair, and improvement of all FMG facilities and grounds.
  • Complete and document all assigned work orders in a timely and accurate manner using School Dude or other approved platforms.
  • Perform periodic inspections of maintained equipment and systems to ensure high-quality performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and building systems 
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment 
  • Replace filters, belts, motors, thermostats, and other system components 
  • Conduct seasonal HVAC inspections and system performance testing 
  • Maintain boilers, chillers, rooftop units, split systems, and exhaust systems 
  • Respond to maintenance work orders and emergency repair calls 
  • Complete routine facility maintenance and minor electrical or plumbing repairs as needed 
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and inspection reports 
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards 
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment safely 
  • Communicate professionally with customers, tenants, and team members Provide support for site logistics including event setups, furniture assembly, and vendor coordination.

Travel

Travel between locations is required. Employees who operate personal vehicles for company business should obtain auto liability coverage for bodily injury and property damage with a special endorsement for business use, when necessary, as determined by their personal insurance agent.
