Summary of the Position’s Responsibilities

Summary: This role involves the production, review, and analysis of various tax work products relating to FATCA/CRS. Additional responsibilities include testing of tax initiatives and assisting in tax solution development work.  This role reaches across all areas of the business including Investor Services, Tax, Operations, Accounting, Valuation and Information Technology. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment.  This individual will have an educational or early career background in tax compliance/reporting and/or accounting.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completing Tax analysis of tax documentation and data attributes
  • Preparation and review of tax deliverables for interim and/or annual reporting
  • Testing technology builds to meet upcoming tax regulations
  • Reading assigned materials to stay current with hot topics in US and foreign tax law for possible updates to reporting requirements
  • Collaborating with Tax Manager to ensure BAU workflow items are being reviewed in a timely manner

Qualifications and Skills

Required                                                   

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience working within accounting or financial services firm
  • Strong PC skills, particularly in Excel
  • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and organize workload
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptive, flexible style; able to work in a challenging and dynamic environment

      Nice to Have

  • Hedge Fund Tax and/or financial services product knowledge/domain expertise
  • Prior experience with tax form reporting

  • Accounting or finance degree

Salary Range:

$50,160 - 75,240 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
