General Machining - CNC

Job Summary

The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and other machine shop equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials
• Machine parts to precise tolerances (±.0005” or as specified)
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments
• Make machine offsets and program adjustments as needed
• Deburr and finish machined components to required specifications
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of machining experience (manual, CNC, or combination)
• Strong blueprint reading and measuring skills
• Experience holding tight tolerances
• Working knowledge of machining metals such as tool steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Skills

• CNC programming experience (G-code, conversational programming, or CAM software)
• Experience with multi-axis machining
• Familiarity with tool and die components
• Experience in a high-precision or production manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in a machine shop environment (noise, coolant, temperature variation)
