We're looking for a Consumer Loan Underwriter who is passionate about member service, skilled in credit analysis, and eager to contribute to the continued growth of our indirect lending program. As a Consumer Loan Underwriter, you will: Review and evaluate consumer loan applications, making lending decisions in accordance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensure loan applications and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and compliant. Approve, counteroffer, or decline loan applications within assigned lending authority Identify red flags or potential fraudulent applications Utilize internal resources to ensure accuracy and minimize risk Manage the indirect lending application queue while assisting with direct lending underwriting Develop and maintain strong relationships with dealership partners. Monitor and manage the indirect lending portfolio to support growth, quality, and profitability goals. Perform key functions within the indirect lending process, including transmitting, receiving, closing, and funding loans. Train, mentor, and support staff on indirect lending policies, procedures, and best practices. Identify opportunities to deepen member relationships through additional credit union products and services. Participate in departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects. We’re looking for someone who: Indirect lending or indirect auto lending experience (preferred). Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred). Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to learn and effectively utilize credit union lending and core processing systems. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Availability to work flexible schedules and occasional Saturdays.
