How You’ll Contribute
As Lead Brewer, you're the heartbeat of the brewery at our Temple Brewery. You'll own your craft from grain to glass, leading a team of assistant brewers, driving daily production, and making sure every batch meets BJ's high standards. This role is equal parts technical expert and team leader. 

• The Craft: Learn and support all aspects of the brewing and production process, from raw ingredients to finished product.  

• The Work: Oversee and perform hands-on production tasks throughout the day, including brewing, packaging, yeast management, and equipment operation. 

• The Environment: Work in a variety of conditions, including warm production areas, cold storage, elevated platforms, and around cleaning chemicals.  

• The Equipment: Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment including centrifuges, pumps, valves, and packaging systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of brewery systems required. 

• The Standards: Maintain a culture of cleanliness, organization, and quality — upholding and enforcing BJ's standard procedures across every shift and coaching your team to do the same. 

• The Safety: Safety starts with you. Follow OSHA compliance, proper chemical handling, and correct use of PPE. Authorized quality tastings are conducted only under established company protocols. 

What You’ll Do

• Brew recipes to spec and oversee all stages of production to meet scheduling targets 

• Operate centrifuge or DE filter equipment; manage yeast management and propagation 

• Package finished beer into kegs, cans, and bottles; operate forklifts as needed 

• Manage soda production and specialty beverage programs 

• Coach, develop, and hold assistant brewers accountable across all brewery operations 

• Receive deliveries physically and log them accurately in our inventory system 

• Maintain proper record keeping for production and inventory management 

• Perform and oversee daily cleaning, sanitation, and upkeep of brewery appearance 

• Use proper and safe chemical handling techniques at all times 

• Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA compliance 

• Impart knowledge about beer and brewing to restaurant guests 
• Represent BJ's at beer events and uphold gold standard quality across the entire brewery 

What You’ll Bring 

• One year of comparable production or brewing experience 

• Sensory skills in evaluation of beer quality 

• Experience leading in a group setting 

• Willing to lift heavy objects repeatedly and safely 

• Comfortable working inside a confined space and from elevated platforms and ladders using fall limiters and harnesses 

• All brewery team members must be able to work as a team doing any and all aspects of the process to assist each other in executing tasks in an efficient manner 

• Flexibility with work hours and availability is a must

• Pay range: USD $65,000 - $80,000

This pay range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Final pay within the range will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, and other job-related qualifications.
