Summary
As part of the District Services Team, this position is responsible for performing maintenance work and code compliance abatement in Downtown Temple and other assigned areas. The role also involves participating in special projects and adhering to safety policies while performing various maintenance tasks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- AbatementÂ
- Serves on a team to implement strategies to achieve code complianceÂ
- Performs code compliance abatement actions as assigned, including mowing private lots subject to mow ordersÂ
- Performs maintenance tasks, light construction, paints, patches, power washes and mowsÂ
- Removes trash/debris from streets and alleysÂ
- Delivers and monitors the tool trailer during neighborhood cleanups events, inspects, and maintains the equipmentÂ
- Assists with projects including those involving entire neighborhoods, multiple property owners, high profile properties, and other complex situationsÂ
- Participates in interdepartmental teams and with other partner organizations to provide comprehensive solutions for code compliance issuesÂ
- Prepares and maintains accurate daily activity logsÂ
- Participates in special projects, duties may include the operation of heavy equipment such as a backhoe and skid steer to efficiently demolish buildings and a dump trump truck or roll-off truck for removing solid waste from demolition sitesÂ
- Follows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesÂ
- Performs other duties as assigned  Â
- ProjectsÂ
- Performs general building and ground maintenance, as assigned, including tasks such as mowing, painting, power washing, patching, weed eradication, cleaning and removal of trash and debris from streets and alleys and light constructionÂ
- Participates in special projects as assignedÂ
- Delivers and monitors the tool trailer during neighborhood cleanups events, as scheduled, including inspecting and maintaining the equipmentÂ
- Works closely with other members of the Transform Temple Team and the City’s Office of Community Development to implement strategies to achieve code complianceÂ
- Assists with Transform Temple and Community Development projects including those involving entire neighborhoods, multiple property owners, high profile properties, and other complex situations
- Participates in interdepartmental teams and with other partner organizations to provide comprehensive solutions for code compliance issuesÂ
- Prepares and maintains accurate and complete daily activity logsÂ
- Communicates effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writingÂ
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in maintenance work, lawn care, or a related field

Certifications and Licenses
- Valid driver’s license
